Simon M C Sherwood was President and CEO of Orient-Express Hotels (NYSE ticker OEH) until August 2007. OEH owns and operates many of the world’s finest hotels, restaurants and trains including the Cipriani in Venice, ‘21’Club in New York and the famous Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. At the start of his 14 year tenure at OEH the company operated 6 properties and had a market capitalization of $30 million. By the time of his departure the company had grown to 50 properties worldwide with a market capitalization of over $2 billion.
Prior to OEH, he spent 4 years at the Boston Consulting Group where he was a manager in their San Francisco office. Mr Sherwood was educated at Cambridge University in the UK and at Harvard Business School in the USA where he received an MBA with distinction.
He now acts as an advisor to Private Equity focusing primarily on luxury goods and the leisure industry.
Mr Sherwood is 47 years old and is married with two children aged 7 and 10. He speaks Spanish, Italian and French. |
